The die-hards probably know these things, but others might not.
1. The Browns won the NFL Championship against a team that was formerly from Cleveland. Yes - in 1950 the Browns beat the Los Angeles Rams to win the Championship. It was the Browns' very first year in the NFL. The L.A. Rams were formerly called the Cleveland Rams. Weird.
2. The Miami Dolphins are not the first professional football team to have a perfect season. They are the first and only NFL football team to do so including playoffs and the Super Bowl. That was in 1972. But the Browns had a perfect season more than two decades before that ever happened - in 1948 the Browns went 14-0 and won the AAFC Championship. Don't forget that.
3. The Browns' helmets have not always been the classic orange. In 1950 and 1951 the helmets were white. Good change.
4. The Browns were the very first team in the NFL to ever score a 2-point conversion after a touchdown. It happened in 1994. Tom Tupa, the holder for the usual 1-point kick conversion, ran the ball in on a fake. Cool.
5. The Browns are the only team in NFL history to have had a professional wrestler throw on the jersey and play decent time. It was in the 1980s. His name was Ron Simmons but his nickname in wrestling was Farooq. If you listen carefully at Cleveland Browns Stadium you will hear the very odd fan refer to Farooq in describing some move that looks more like it should happen inside turnbuckles than on grass.
There's a lot of history and funny facts with the Browns. These are just a few, hopefully at least one of them you never knew. Go Browns!
