NFL Draft - Aaron or Aaron???

Most bloggers and web sites are predicting Aaron Curry of Wake Forest for the Browns' first pick. But what about Aaron Maybin of Penn State? Maybin may be selected by the Bills in the first round several picks after the Browns, but he is worthwhile of serious consideration by Cleveland. Let's compare. Curry is a senior while Maybin is a sophomore - advantage Curry in terms of experience. Curry played for Wake Forest while Maybin played for Penn State - advantage Maybin for a better football program and better teammates. Curry is 6 foot 3 inches and weighs 247 pounds while Maybin is 6 foot 4 and weighs 246 - basically a draw. Curry plays OLB while Maybin plays DE - in my opinion advantage Maybin because he could end up being a better pass rusher and the Browns desperately need that. This past season Curry amassed more than 100 tackles, 2.5 sacks and one interception, while Maybin racked up 49 tackles, 12 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 3 batted balls on passes. I say that's a draw - the more tackles by Curry are offset by many more sacks and turnovers by Maybin. Curry is promoted as an awesome tackler to stuff the run while Maybin is promoted as capable of being a leading sacker in the NFL - advantage Maybin because in my view we need to compliment Rogers with a pass rusher and not necessarily a smaller protege. Yes I know that Maybin is still developing but real good things sometimes take a little time. Just my opinion...Go Browns!
