Should the Browns trade Braylon Edwards to the New York Giants? Only if the price is right. What is the right price? A wide receiver with more than 1 year experience, like Steve Smith, plus two draft picks in the first three rounds. That would enable us to acquire a WR and forego Michael Crabtree as our first draft pick, and it would compensate us for not having currently a third round draft pick.
Here are the Browns' draft picks:
Round 1
Round 2 - two selections
Round 4
Round 6
Here are the Giants' draft picks:
Round 1
Round 2 - two selections
Round 3 - two selections
Round 4
Round 5
We can demand two draft picks in addition to Smith for two reasons. First, the Giants are getting desperate because of the loss of Burress. Second, Edwards is a much better receiver than Smith even considering last year's numbers:
Edwards - 55 receptions for 873 yards and 3 TDs
Smith - 57 receptions for 574 yards and 1 TD
Further, Edwards is much bigger than Smith. Braylon is 4 inches taller and weighs twenty more pounds.
That is the pricetag. If the Giants poney up, do the deal. If not, then keep Braylon.
Go Browns!
