Phil Dawson back at camp

*Posted by Josh Jeffi

Phil Dawson is back at camp and now all the pieces are back for the Browns to make their playoff run. Really, does anyone care? I understand that Phil Dawson has been with this team since its' return in 1999 and has been a very good kicker. He was the Browns main offense threat the last 6 games of the season. I get that, but come on Phil, your were holding out? No matter how valuable you are, you still are a KICKER.

I can understand Josh Cribbs or D'Qwell Jackson wanting a new deal, they've out played their contracts, but a kicker? Again, I like Phil Dawson. I think he is a very good kicker and an overall good guy, but something about a kicker holding out for more money just cracks me up. I have to believe that the last thing Eric Mangini wants to do is answer questions about is his kicker's holdout, so it's a good thing Dawson is in camp. Plus, it is apparent under the new regime, that they are not waiting around for the players. The game and the team will move on with or without them and with or without the new contract they want.

  1. I love the way this new regime handles player absences. Dawson doesn't show up. Oh well; we just happened to have picked up a new kicker who is getting a lot of work and looking good. HINT TO PHIL: show up or lose your job. No more of this nonsense of going to players holding out on our hands and knees begging them to come back and then having no choice but to give in to all contract demands.
